Mother and Child - 1920s
This charming photograph is signed DeGaston. A San Francisco photographer named Paul DeGaston is known to have taken a picture of Ansel Adams seated at a piano in the early 1920s. Since this lovely madonna was discovered in San Francisco, it seems likely that this image was taken by the same artist. Note the beautifully patterned flapper-style dress the young mother is wearing and her baby's fascination with her geometrically-shaped glass bead sautoir.
