Young Victorian - 1880s
This young woman has softened the tight control of her hairstyle, held by pins and combs, with a delicate spit curl at each temple. The tortoiseshell comb is set with some kind of glittery stones, most likely paste or early rhinestones. A long slider chain can be seen trailing across the white lace jabot. It probably drapes down to a watch pinned at her waist.
