Nancy Wearing a Lisner Necklace - circa 1951
This picture of Cheri's maternal aunt, Nancy, includes a mystery. It was taken when Nancy was about 14 years old, in about 1951. At that time she was a schoolgirl in a small town in Minnesota. She is wearing the necklace that can be seen in the accompanying photograph. Many years later, in about 1968, Cheri found this necklace in her mother's jewelry box and asked to borrow it. The necklace is still in Cheri's possession, and has been a favorite of hers for 35 years. A couple of years ago, Cheri was wearing this necklace and her mother complimented her on it. When told it was hers, Cheri's mother didn't remember it at all. Then Cheri found this picture of Nancy wearing the necklace. She e-mailed Nancy. Nancy doesn't remember it at all, either. How did it get from Nancy's neck to Shirley's jewelry box? Why doesn't either of them remember it exists? Hard saying. But it's great to have a photograph that establishes the approximate age and provenance of this pretty Lisner necklace.
