Aunt Susan and Her Daughters
Identified only as "Papa's Sister," Aunt Susan was a very beautiful woman, and the mother of two very beautiful daughters. This picture was taken in the village of Laurium, Michigan circa 1910. The young women have Gibson Girl hairdos and elaborately tucked and pleated white cotton blouses with romantic lace stand-up collars. One wears a round brooch where the bodice of her blouse meets the gathering beneath. The other is wearing a round locket on a long chain. Both are firmly entrenched in the Edwardian style and sensibility. Aunt Susan's dress and jewelry are more in keeping with her age and Victorian upbringing. Her lace collar is set against a dark, formal gown and is a piece of exquisite jewelry in itself. She also wears a long slider watch chain.
