Dorothy graduated from high school in 1945, the year World War II ended. One can only imagine the relief she must have felt to be starting her independent life in a time of peace and prosperity after years of war, rationing, and uncertainty. She is wearing a large octagonal locket on a long chain. Notice the rimless glasses, so popular at this time.
