Rosa Maria, "Queen Churubusco X"
When this picture was taken in 1937 commemmorating her reign as queen of the neighborhood of Churubusco at the annual Mexico City Country Club beauty pageant, the breathtakingly lovely Rosa Maria was 17 or 18 years old. She was already married to Eugenio Lopez, and was known as Senora de Lopez Negrete, but her maiden name was Rosa Maria Dosamantes Carranza. In her coronation photo, Rosa Maria looks every inch the queen. She wears a tiara, enormous shoulder duster earrings, a magnificent necklace fit for an empress, a beautiful brooch with dangling tassels, and what appears to be a white carved bakelite bracelet.
