Simone Ussel, "Queen Churubusco VII"
In 1934, Simone Ussel was the queen representing the Mexico City neighborhood of Churubusco at the annual Mexico City Country Club beauty pageant. She was 19 years old when this picture was taken. Although born in Mexico City, she listed her nationality and citizenship as "French" when she crossed the border at Laredo into the United States in 1941. She is wearing a beautiful carved applejuice bakelite or Prystal bracelet with her slinky satin bias-cut gown.
