Walter Lampl Enamel Ship's Wheel Enchantaire Compact with 17 Jewel Watch

Measures 3 x 5-3/8". This remarkable compact/cigarette case is cleverly designed with 2 enamel-top compartments for cigarettes on each side of the central powder dispenser. On top of the center panel is an enameled ship's wheel with a 17 jewel Swiss watch at its center. The center compartment has a compartment for loose powder. This is dispensed into the reservoir at the front by pushing the sliding lever. The original powder puff is included, with the script WL on a shield Lampl mark. The bottom of the reservoir is marked PAT. PENDING W.L. ENCHANTAIRE. This mark dates the piece to before 1937. All of the interior compartments are engine-turned gold-tone metal. The enameling on the 2 side compartments and on the back is a peachy cream color. The ship's wheel is enameled in white and navy blue. The watch has been newly cleaned and runs perfectly. There are a couple of tiny chips to the blue enameling and one small chip to the enamel of the lid of the right compartment. The enameling on this side also has a 1/2" area of minor discoloration that looks like a slight smudge.
