Robert Levy, David Jaffe, and Irving Landsman began their business,
Fashioncraft Jewelry Company, in 1949. The company changed its name to
Robert Originals, Inc. around 1960, when Irving Landsman left the
company. Frequently confused with the work of Miriam Haskell, Robert
jewelry usually features filigree settings, faux pearls, rhinestones,
colored glass stones, and crystal beads. Their line of enamel fruits
and flowers jewelry in the 1960s epitomized the Mod era. Robert pieces
were quite expensive and of consistently high quality. In the 1980s the
company reorganized as Ellen Designs, Inc. It continues production
under this name.
