Extraordinary 1930s Feather Bumblebees Hatpin Set

Extraordinary 1930s Feather Bumblebees Hatpin Set

Item #DA1992225

The largest bee measures 1-3/4" in diameter. The two smaller bees are each 1-1/8" in diameter. These utterly charming bees are constructed of real feathers and orange and brown pipecleaners and are affixed to brass pins. The technique is very much like that used in fly tying. They are on their original card and appear to have never been used. The card reads "catharine jackson of haddon hall atlantic city Millinery." The phone number on the card is PHONE 4-5485 and the proprietors are listed as CATHARINE DETWEILER and THOMAS DETWEILER. Haddon Hall was a legendary luxury hotel in Atlantic City, NJ during that city's most glamorous and sophisticated era, before World War II. Thomas Detweiler was a rowing champion in 1929 and 1930, winning the Atlantic City Beach Patrol Rowing Doubles with his partner Richard Bew. These rare millinery accessories appear to have never been used and are in extraordinarily fine condition. $235.00 (Includes insured shipping to a U.S.A. address)
