Circa 1900 French Jet Collar Necklace on Original Lace

Measures 14" long. Lace is 1" wide. French jet (black glass) pendant drops 2-1/2". This gorgeous necklace is a rare and remarkable survivor. The central element measures 1 x 1-1/2". It is made of simulated jet fused to an black enameled backing. Beneath this is a French jet drop which adds another inch of length to the pendant drop. The fascinating clasp resembles a door hinge when closed. The lace is in 2 layers, which lends strength to the necklace. A band of ecru plain net is the backing for the machine-embroidered black lace. No damage to lace. No chips or other damage to the French jet. Minor patina of wires which hold the pendant drop. Very minor wear to black enameling on clasp. This is a simply spectacular piece of authentic late Victorian jewelry. $225.00 (Includes insured shipping to a U.S.A. address)
