Beautifully Carved Bacchante Cameo Locket

Measures 1 x 1-1/4". A wonderfully detailed carved shell cameo depicting a female devotee of Bacchus (god of wine) is affixed to an antiqued gold-filled sterling locket. Marked PR. ST. CO. 1/20 - 12 KT. ON STERLING. This Victorian Revival locket was made by the Providence Stock Company circa 1940. Grapes and grape leaves are woven into the young woman's finely detailed hair and drop over one bare shoulder. She is draped in a classical toga. The metal-work is beautifully crafted, as well.
