Navajo Sterling & Turquoise Turtle Necklace & Earrings Set
Item #AN11445
Necklace measures 16-1/4" long. The 5 handcrafted turtles vary slightly in size, with the center turtle being the largest at 7/8 x 1-1/4" and the others graduating to slightly smaller sizes. Each turtle has a lovely piece of sky-blue turquoise with nice gray-black matrix. Matching screw-on earrings dangle 1-1/4" long, with a 3/4 x 1" turtle on each. Normal patina of age on the silver tube beads of the choker. No mark of silver purity, but signed A. VANDEVER. According to "Hallmarks of the Southwest" by Barton Wright, this is the mark used by Navajo silversmith Anthony Vanderver from 1974 until 1977. Vanderver was a silversmith for the Atkinson Trading Company. (SOLD)
