1951 Monet Heavy Retro Choker Necklace

Measures 15" long and 1/2" wide. This beautifully crafted necklace is very substantial. It is both weighty and sleek, with excellent craftsmanship, and drapes in a wonderfully fluid fashion. Marked MONET, it also bears the inscription WDOCC 1950-51. This was a presentation piece, given for service to an organization. We believe that the organization was the Webster/Dudley/Oxford Area Chamber of Commerce in Webster, Massachusetts. Plated in pale gold-tone, this dog-collar style necklace was made to be worn high on the throat. The very unusual clasp holds well and appears to be an early precursor to today's lobster-style catch. Very light wear to plating on back of necklace only. No wear or damage to front. This is a classically elegant necklace which would transition well from day to evening wear. (SOLD)
