Early Taxco Sterling Armadillo Necklace, Bracelet, & Earrings Set
Item #AC111149
Necklace measures 22-1/2" long and 1-1/2" wide at center. Bracelet measures 1-3/4" wide at center and 5-1/2" long, with 1" gap. Earrings measure 7/8 x 1". This beautiful set dates to before 1948. The design is known as the "armadillo" and was used by many of the great Mexican silversmiths including Hector Aguilar and Valentin Vidaurreta. Because it is not signed by the artist, this set can not be attributed to one of these masters, but it is identical in form and design and is of the highest quality. The necklace is suspended from the original black velvet cord. It has a box clasp which holds well. The cuff bracelet could be gently bent to fit a larger or smaller wrist. The earrings have screw backs which work well. The necklace and bracelet are marked TAXCO STERLING. The earrings are marked SILVER MEXICO. Beautiful light patina of vintage silver. No dents or other damage. (SOLD)
