Hollycraft was a trademark used by the Hollywood Jewelry Manufacturing
Company. Hollywood is said to have been founded in the late 1930s, but
the first recorded use of the Hollycraft trademark was in 1948. Joseph
Chorbajian of New York City, an Armenian emigrant, is the owner of
record. Hollycraft jewelry is known for its beautiful designs,
distinctive colors, and rich-appearing rhinestones. Unlike most other
costume jewelry makers of its era, Hollycraft began dating its jewelry
in the early 1950s. This adds to the interest and collectible value of
these pieces. The company is known to have remained in business until
the late 1960s, and was sold in 1971.
