FENICHEL
Fenichel Novelty Company was established in New York City in 1925 when Louis Fenichel purchased the Reichman Novelty Company and changed its name. Three years later he brought in his brother Max Fenichel as a partner. They manufactured and wholesaled costume jewelry, specializing in Austrian rhinestone pieces with simple, elegant, timeless designs. During World War II, when Austrian stones were not available, they created a new line of hand painted jewelry. After the war they returned to using the finest quality Austrian rhinestones. The jewelry was designed by Louis, who also oversaw production and maintained exacting quality control. He and Max handled the sales aspects of the business together. The company ceased operations about 1959, three years after Louis' death in 1956.
