Lucille Cantini Enamel Earrings

Lucille Cantini Enamel Earrings

Item #DT157512

Measure 3/4" in diameter. These beautiful concave copper earrings are enameled with an abstract flowering plant motif. The colors are rich blues, greens, and golds. Marked cantini in script. Lucille Cantini was the wife of Virgil Cantini (1919 - 2009), the prominent sculptor, enamelist, and art professor who was born in Italy and came to the US in 1930. Although Virgil received many awards and prizes for his enamel work and is featured in a number of books about Modern jewelry and the Wearable Art Movement, according to their daughter it was Lucille, a fine artist in her own right, who created 98% of the enamel jewelry sold under the Cantini name. The daughter has confirmed that the signature on these earrings is her mother's handwriting. Screw backs hold well. No damage to the fronts of the earrings. One earring has a significant chip in the enamel of the back. The other earring has two small flaws in the enamel of the back, original to the manufacturing of these pieces. $125.00 (Includes insured shipping to a U.S.A. address)
