Older Mexican Silver Earrings - Johanna van Ryn?

Item #DI158317

Measure 1-1/8" wide and 2-1/4" long. These beautiful Modernist openwork earrings are marked HECHO EN MEXICO 925 JVR. They date to the 1940s. Screw backs hold well. The mark is in block print, rather than script. The only recorded maker with these initials in Bille Hougart's "The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks" is Johanna van Ryn, known to have been active as early as the mid 1940s. Her mark is said to be more typically in script, so the origins of these earrings cannot be confirmed at this time. Light patina of vintage silver has been left undisturbed. (SOLD)
