Lucky Horseshoe Love Token Charm

Measures 3/4" in diameter. On one side of this love token is a charming folk art engraving of a horseshoe. The reverse bears the initials WC. A jump ring has been soldered to the top of the token to permit easy attachment to a charm bracelet. Light patina of age, but no deep scratches. The images can be seen clearly. Moderate patina of vintage silver has been left undisturbed. Love tokens were made during the mid to late 1800s from coin silver dimes and worn on bangle-style charm bracelets. They were sometimes engraved by young men for their lovers. Others were commercially engraved and sold to suitors who doubted their own artistic abilities.
