Huge Victorian Red Stone Brooch

Measures 1-7/8 x 2-3/4" and rises 3/4" proud. This beautiful brooch is extremely unusual because of its extraordinary size. Most Victorian jewelry was dainty and discrete, but this piece is bold. Big ruby red glass cabochons are collet-set in a gold-plated knot design. The stones on each side are foiled with gold, but the center stone is unfoiled and open-backed. C-clasp holds well.
