1945 Coro Sterling Lucite Jelly Belly Spider Brooch
Item #DR1352012
Measures 1-3/4 x 2". Whimsical and rarely seen, this delightful ant has a carved clear lucite belly studded with rows of white rhinestones. A line of emerald green rhinestones are channel-set down the middle of the thorax. The remainder of the thorax and the legs are paved with white rhinestones. Tiny green rhinestone eyes provide the finishing touch. Marked Coro in script and STERLING. The silver is plated with gold. Safety clasp holds well. No missing or dead rhinestones. No wear to plating or plastic. The patent for this piece, D141, 637, was assigned in 1945 to Adolph Katz. The piece can be seen in Brunialti's "American Costume Jewelry," where it is identified as being a spider. Our entomologist consultant assures us, however, that based on body style and number of legs it is actually an artistic interpretation of an ant. $385.00 (Includes insured shipping to a U.S.A. address)
