"Pele's Tears" Peridot & Pearl Brooch

Measures 1-1/4 x 1-7/8". This charming floral spray brooch is set with natural chunks of polished peridot and 6 tiny cultured pearls. It is on the original card, which is labeled 22 KT. GOLD PLATE. This piece was apparently a gift because hand-written on the back of the card is 1973 Greetings from Hawaii Happy Mother's Day Love, Helen & Glenn. Peridot nuggets of this type were once found on Hawaiian beaches and were called Pele's Tears, after the volcano goddess. Safety clasp holds well. No signs of wear or use. (SOLD)
