Circle of brooch measures 2-1/2" in diameter. Arrow shape measures 3-1/4" long. This massive brooch weighs 54 grams, which is nearly 2 ounces. Heavily cast of silver, with design elements on both front and back, it is a reproduction of the famous Hunterston brooch which is in the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. The original brooch is a synthesis of Pictish, Celtic, and Anglo-Saxon design. Marked STERLING SCOTLAND. This gorgeous piece dates to the 1950s and has a level of craftsmanship rarely seen in today's examples. Safety clasp holds well. Patina of vintage silver has been left undisturbed. (SOLD)
