Older Mexican Silver Sword Brooch with Fleur de Lis Handle
Item #DB1310224
Measures 1-1/2 x 4-1/4". This beautiful old sword is finely detailed with a tiny floral motif on the scabbard and 3 fleur de lis shapes on the hilt. The hilt is also set with 2 small turquoise cabochons. The sword pulls out of the scabbard, but is attached by a safety chain. Marked SILVER MEXICO. This is the oldest Mexican silver mark, dating the piece to before 1948. Pieces marked this way are frequently a purer grade of silver than sterling, often 950 to 980 parts per thousand, as compared to 925 parts per thousand (sterling). Safety clasp holds well. Dark patina of vintage silver has been left undisturbed. $90.00 (Includes insured shipping to a U.S.A. address)
