Walter Lampl Enameled Sterling Violets Perfume Brooch
Walter Lampl Enameled Sterling Violets Perfume Brooch

Walter Lampl Enameled Sterling Violets Perfume Brooch

Item #CY13529

Measures 1-1/4 x 1-3/4". This gorgeous brooch is from the series featuring flowers of the month that was created by Walter Lampl during the early 1940s. The violets represent the month of February. Richly detailed enameling in violet, green, and yellow is a highlight of this beautiful reticulated design. On the back is a small reservoir that originally held a bit of cotton. This well was meant to hold a drop of perfume. Marked WL STERLING. Safety clasp holds well. No damage to enameling. No wear to shiny rhodium plating which overlies the silver. Two examples of a slightly different version of this original series by Walter Lampl can be seen in the Providence Jewelry Museum. These pieces served as inspiration to the contemporary Birthblossom (TM) line of jewelry. (SOLD)
