Carved Rootbeer Bakelite Balalaika

Measures 2 x 3-3/4". The body of this Russian musical instrument (much like a guitar) is made of rootbeer-colored bakelite, carved with a leaf and flower motif. The neck of the instrument is carved wood. There are 4 strings. The strings are actual violin strings. They are intact, but frayed in the area where the instrument would be strummed if it were full size. It would be easy to replace the strings with new violin string, but we have left it in its original condition, as it is so charming to imagine the instrument being played so hard it left the strings frayed!
