Rare Howard Pierce Deer Brooch, circa 1941
Item #CX125233
Measures 1 x 3". Howard Pierce is best known for his porcelain animals, produced between 1945 and 1994 (though most were made before he retired in 1968). This is a very early example of his work, a brooch depicting an Art Deco style deer, marked HOWARD PIERCE and with PAT. 2066969. This patent dates to 1937. Cast in solid pewter, this pin is one of a series of 18 lapel pins dating to 1941 and a little before. The deer is wonderfully sculptural, in keeping with the highly collectable ceramic pieces for which Pierce is best known. $225.00 (Includes insured shipping to a U.S.A. address)
