Hand Painted Victorian Portrait Brooch
Item #CV13313
Measures 1-1/2" from corner tip to corner tip of frame. Portrait miniature is 7/8" square. Painted on ivory, this beautiful portrait brooch has a silk back. The woman is dressed in the clothing of the 18th Century, though the brooch was no doubt painted in the 19th Century. The detail of the painting is exquisite, with remarkably fine detail. The woman is very pretty, and her costume is lavish, with an extravagant red plume on her wide-brimmed hat. The frame is of filigree silver, touched with gold gilt. It is marked 800 and with a maker's mark we can't make out. The C-clasp, long pin stem, and T-hinge all identify this as a Victorian era piece. We believe it is probably Italian in orgin. There is a filigree bale, as well, so it can be worn as a pendant on a chain or ribbon. No signs of wear or damage of any kind. $235.00 (Includes insured shipping to a U.S.A. address)
