Victorian 10K Photograph & Hair Mourning Brooch
Item #BZ1310296
Measures 1-1/8 x 1-3/8". This late Victorian Brooch shows a handsome bearded man on the front, his photograph set beneath a bezeled glass crystal. The gold frame is deep and accented with a delicate rope border. In the back of the brooch, also set under bezeled glass, is woven light brown hair. C-clasp holds well. The extra long pin stem typical of Victorian jewelry is sharp and straight. The gold frame tests as 10K. Interestingly, the pin appears to have been meant to be worn with the face upside down, so the wearer could look down and see the face of her loved one from the correct orientation. There are a few tiny spots of discoloration on the photograph, but these do not detract from the quality of the piece nor the attractiveness of the subject. No damage to glass or gold. $155.00 (Includes insured shipping to a U.S.A. address)
