Victorian Etruscan Revival Micromosaic 10K Brooch
Item #BX1311263
Measures 2" long. This magnificent piece of Italian micromosaic work dates to the Victorian era, judging by the pin stem, engraving, C-clasp, and exquisite workmanship. The word ROMA is framed on either side by 5/8" micromosaic discs depicting swallows in flight, with sprigs of rose blossoms. The tesserae (glass tiles) are incredibly small, visible only with magnificantion. On the back is the maker's or original owner's name engraved in script, partially concealed by the construction. It appears to read, "Me. P Nettleto_". The pin stem is marked 14 and tests positive for 14K gold. The rest of the brooch tests positive for 10K gold. (SOLD)
