Victoria Flemming Pennsylvania Dutch Rooster Brooch & Earrings Set
Item #BK136156
Brooch measures 1-3/4" in diameter. Earrings measure 7/8" in diameter. Each of these porcelain pieces is handpainted with a fantasy rooster in bold yellow, green, and red inside a coppery surround. The design is inspired by the folk art traditions of the Pennsylvania Dutch. The brooch is signed on the front in script Victoria Flemming. Each earring is signed on the front with a conjoined VF. Brooches and earrings were the earliest of Victoria Flemming's work, sold at the Greenwich Village Art Show during the late 1940s. Her highly collectible cufflinks were a later product, and these rarely seen brooch/earring sets were phased out when the cufflinks became popular best-sellers. Flemming's flair for design, wonderful sense of color, and Modernist whimsy can be clearly seen in this charming set. Safety clasp holds well. Earring screw backs function smoothly. No chips, cracks, crazing, or signs of wear. $185.00 (Includes insured shipping to a U.S.A. address)
