Exquisite 14K Gold, Jade, & Seed Pearl Walter Lampl Brooch & Ring Set
Item #BI133135
Brooch measures 1-1/4 x 2". Ring front measures 5/8 x 7/8". Ring is a size 5-3/4. Walter Lampl imported this spectacular carved green jadeite from China during the 1920s and 1930s. The love Lampl held for jade can be seen in the article he wrote for The Keystone magazine in 1927 lobbying for jade to be the new November birthstone. In 1929 he wrote an educational advertisement in The Jewelers' Circular about the seed pearls used in this piece. This ad can be seen here. In these gorgeous pieces he framed the highly polished, intricately carved jade with tiny natural seed pearls, then finished it off with a classically elegant 14K gold frame. The brooch is marked WL 14K The ring is marked 14K WL. No damage to the lovely jade of either piece. Safety clasp of brooch holds well. The ring appears to be missing a few of the tiny seed pearls, leaving the remaining pearls free to slide along the fine gold wire that holds them. These are outstanding examples of Walter Lampl's fine jewelry. (SOLD)
