Two Sailors World War II Brooch

Item #BH1310191

Measures 1-1/2 x 2-1/4". This wonderful unsigned brooch is nearly identical to the Boucher brooch featured in Roberto Brunialti's "A Tribute to America" on pages 49 and 50. In this version, the walking sailors are wearing navy blue enameled bell-bottom trousers and have enameled navy collars on their pavee' rhinestone blouses. Their heads are glass faux pearls. Each is wearing a white enamel sailor cap. One sailor has an exposed hand, which is enameled in flesh-tone pink. Safety clasp holds well. Very light areas of wear to the higher points of the navy blue enameling, consistent with age. This does not distract from the vintage beauty of the piece. No wear to pearls. No missing or dead rhinestones. Brunialti mentions that an unsigned brooch which sounds very much like this one was shown in the Nov. 18, 1940 Life magazine and again in the March 1941 Glamour. A rare piece of World War II patriotic history! (SOLD)
