Walter Lampl "Patriot Pin" Remember Pearl Harbor
Item #BC1312283
Measures 1 x 3". This important World War II artifact was created by Walter Lampl immediately after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Sold for $1.00 at department stores across America, 10% of the retail price was donated to the Honolulu Community Chest for the relief of victims of the attack. An airplane flies across a blue enamel earth, headed west towards the cultured pearl that represents Hawaii. Trailing behind the airplane are red, white, and blue enamel ribbons bearing the words REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR. Marked FOR AID TO THE HONOLULU COMMUNITY CHEST DES. PAT. APP. FOR BY LAMPL. The patent for this piece is Des. 131401, which can be seen on our jewelry design patent page. The patent was applied for on December 19, 1941 (just 12 days after the attack) and granted on February 10, 1942. This pin has some wear to the enameling. The safety clasp holds well, but the pin hinge has been expertly repaired. This is not visible without extremely close inspection. An important example of Sweetheart Jewelry, and a valuable piece of historical memorabilia. (SOLD)
