Carved Ivory Edelweiss Flower Brooch & Earrings Set

Brooch measures 1-1/2" in diameter. Earrings measure 5/8" in diameter. Each piece is intricately carved from pre-ban elephant ivory in the form of edelweiss flowers with blue and yellow hand-painted centers. The petals of the flowers have lots of energy and implied movement. The earring posts and brooch pin assembly are plated in gold-tone, but the earring card reads 800S Elfenbein. Elfenbein is the German word meaning ivory. The metal is 800 silver, which is 80% silver, as compared to sterling which is 92.5% silver. The brooch pin assembly is attached to the ivory with tiny screws, a sign of durability and quality. No chips, cracks, soiling, or other signs of wear. Although this set is from Switzerland, it is clearly inspired by the same aesthetic as the jewelry produced by Ming's of Honolulu.
