Measures 2 x 3". This extraordinary brass brooch was created during the late 1930s. The huge central cabochon of carved cinnabar measures 35 mm. in diameter and rises 12 mm. proud. On each side of this central element is an irregular, highly polished nugget of Chinese turquoise cradeled within a crescent moon. The cinnabar is finely carved in the form of a dragon. The dragon is oriented so that the wearer sees the dragon's face when she looks down at it. Marked WALTER LAMPL. Safety clasp holds well. This outstanding early work combines all of the elements Lampl is most known for and represents a pinnacle of his ambition to present to his customers "The Unusual, As Usual."
