Huge Stunning Austrian Pink Rhinestone Brooch
Item #AN133301
Measures 2-1/4 x 4-1/4". This scrumptious brooch is composed of ruby red, fuchsia pink, light pink, peachy gray, and pale blue rhinestones. These are all prong-set in silver-tone rhodium plated metal. The construction is airy and light, despite its great size, with the finest quality of craftsmanship in the looping, handwired setting. Many of the stones are open-backed. All are foiled. No missing or dead stones. No wear to plating. Safety clasp holds well. In Harrice Simons Miller's book, The Confident Collector, 2nd Edition, a very similar brooch is shown on page 194. She attributes these brooches to 1940s Austria, though this one is not marked. These brooches are said by Liz Bryman of Jewel Collect to be quite rare, as few were originally produced and most of these did not survive because of their delicate construction. This wonderful brooch is a very special treasure. (SOLD)
