1940 Enameled Pot Metal Parrot Brooch

Measures 1-3/4 x 3". This highly sculptural parrot is cast from white metal and enameled with brilliant shades of orange and green. The head, neck, wing, and tail are paved with brilliant white rhinestones. The eye is a bright orange rhinestone. Marked MADE IN USA. This brooch was designed by Jose Rodriguez, an independent jewelry designer, and was granted design patent 120,453 in May 1940. Rodriguez was a Cuban citizen living in New York. His designs typically feature flowers and birds, reflecting their tropical island inspirations. Safety clasp holds well. No damage to enameling.
