>Bar pin at top measures 1" wide. Total pin fob/pin/locket length is 2". Locket measures 5/8 x 3/4". Locket opens to reveal two tiny metal frames, hinged like pages, which each of which can hold two photos (front and back). These frames currently hold the WWII-era "family" photos that originally came with the piece. Marked TRIFARI with a crown over the T, PAT. NO. 1718113, STERLING. This patent number was granted in 1927 to P. Cohen and M. Rossein, assignors to Samuel Yokelson of New York. The original patent was for the photo album mechanism and was meant to be included as part of a ring, rather than a pin or brooch. Click here to see patent image.
