1935 DeRosa "Point Venice" Sterling Brooch

Measures 2" in diameter. Enameled in navy blue, with glass faux pearls and clear paste stones. We believe this is part of DeRosa's important 1935 collection called "Point Venice". with designs inspired by Venetian lace patterns. We have seen very similar earrings, obviously from the same collection and of the same era, with a patent number which dated the clip mechanism to 1934. The safety clasp mechanism on the brooch is of the older type, which is pushed the opposite direction to open and close compared with modern safety clasps. Marked R.
