Victoria Flemming Blue Roses Brooch
Item #AE1312271
Measures 1-3/4" in diameter. A trio of blue roses graces this porcelain brooch. A circle of metallic silver paint forms a border. Signed Victoria Flemming in script on the front of the brooch. Clasp is marked PAT. 2066969. This is the patent for the clasp mechanism, which dates to 1937. The brooch dates to the late 1940s. As can be read in our article about Ms. Flemming's work, these brooches were her very earliest product line, sold at New York's earliest crafts fair in Greenwich Village. After her cufflinks became so successful she stopped making brooches and earrings. This brooch is painted entirely by hand, with the artist's usual skill and precision. Safety clasp holds well. Light wear to silver paint. One small glaze chip at extreme edge on the lower right, at about 4 o'clock. $115.00 (Includes insured shipping to a U.S.A. address)
