Early Miriam Haskell Spezzati Branch Coral Brooch
Item #AA131228
Measures Measures 2-1/2 x 3-3/8". This huge early Miriam Haskell brooch is made of orange spezzati or branch coral wired onto gold-tone filigree. It is amazingly complex, with 2 tiers of cascading coral-filled filigree caps beneath the elaborate main element. One piece of coral appears to be chipped. No other missing or damaged coral. No verdigris. Normal signs of age on the back, with some patina and a slightly bent pin stem. The old-fashioned style safety clasp appears to have been professionally repaired at some point in the past. The clasp works smoothly and holds well. This extraordinary piece dates to the 1930s. It is unsigned, as was usual for Miriam Haskell pieces of that era. (SOLD)
