Extraordinary 1930s Navajo Silver & Turquoise Bracelet
Item #CY128143
Measures 1-1/2" wide at front and 6-1/4" long, with a 3/4" gap. The spectacular robin's egg blue natural turquoise cabochon has outstanding taupe-colored matrix. It measures 16 x 28 mm. and rises 10 mm. proud. The bracelet is made of heavy silver, but is not marked. It looks and feels like coin silver, but could possibly be sterling. We have not tested the silver content. The complexity of the stamping is remarkable, with repousse circles and ovals and a dynamic pattern of sun rays, crescent moons, crossed arrows, and swastikas. The swastika, also known as the rolling logs, is an ancient Native American symbol which was no longer used after 1940. This dates this Fred Harvey era bracelet with a high level of accuracy to the 1930s. It is heavier and more complex than most of the jewelry seen from that era. Beautiful patina of vintage silver, with some traces of old polish on inside of repoussee work. Outside is clean, without significant signs of wear. This is a very rare, very special piece suitable for the most discriminating collector of vintage or pawn Indian jewelry. (SOLD)
